Lexim Announces New Free Learning Management System For All Teachers

Noble Park VIC /PRNewswire/ - Lexim is proud to announce the immediate availability of their learning management system, a software as a service (SaaS) product being made available to all teachers for free. Lexim allows teachers from any institution to deliver their teaching materials online, engage and work with students, assess work and report on student progress. The cloud-based service gives customers access to an enterprise ready learning management system, built for the modern classroom.

"Lexim gives teachers everywhere the freedom to choose which LMS they want to use. Currently they're locked into using whichever system their institution has provided. Lexim changes that, and gives the power of choice back to the teacher," says Lexim Chief Executive Officer Michael Shimmins. "Teaching is one of the most important jobs on the planet, and teachers should have access to the best technology to help do that job."

Lexim launched its early access program in January, inviting interested teachers to take part in a trial program.

"Lexim is a breath of fresh air. After using Blackboard and Moodle previously, Lexim is refreshingly easy to use," said Tavis Ashton-Bell, a Lecturer from Monash University in Melbourne who participated in Lexim's early adopter program. "My students have responded positively to it, and it has sped up the daily tasks letting me spend more time teaching."

Lexim is available to individual teachers for free, with paid plans available that offer additional features for power users, as well as plans for larger installations and entire institution deployments.

"For too long now the large players in this industry have been taking their customers for a ride. Teachers deserve better - a product that is easier to use, does what they need, and lets them focus on what's important - teaching, not technology," said Shimmins. "We've listened to teachers, and are helping them free themselves from outdated technology, without having to wait for their institutions to catch up to the 21st century."

Lexim is backed by some of Melbourne's leading technology investors, including Guy King, co-founder of Stateless Systems, and participated in the AngelCube incubator program in the last quarter of 2011.
