MyScript® Releases Handwriting Recognition Geometry Widget For iOS® And Android™

MyScript Geometry Widget

Interactive shape input method enables education application developers to diversify their mathematical exercises and provide natural, interactive digital experiences for teachers and students

Nantes France (PRWEB) - MyScript®, the acknowledged market leader in accurate, high-performance handwriting recognition and digital ink management technology, announces the release of the Geometry Widget for iOS and Android, the first widget of the MyScript Shape Toolkit. The initial release targets secondary education use cases such as geometry assignments, lesson material creation, and educational games.

The Geometry Widget features patent-pending technology which enables the recognition, beautification, and interactivity of handwritten geometry drawing on digital devices. It offers an interactive input method, enabling users to draw geometric shapes freehand with a finger or stylus.

The widget provides reliable geometric shape recognition. Rather than simply capturing digital ink as a series of images, MyScript technology analyzes and identifies more than 20 basic geometric shapes including triangles, rectangles, squares, circles, ellipses, arcs, and more.

The powerful beautification feature enhances the presentation and layout of the hand-drawn shapes, improving orientation, horizontal and vertical alignment, and connections between shapes. This allows the end user to create a figure and easily transform the sketch from a rough idea to a precise drawing.

Shapes can be created, modified and mixed together using editing gestures. A single tap allows a user to select an item, while a scratch-out gesture easily erases items. Points can be drawn and named. Gestures allow for easy manipulation of angles, lengths, and parallel lines. Students can show their work by easily writing each step of their reasoning, while developers can track the results to provide useful insights to teachers.

“The Geometry Widget provides developers with a way to differentiate their education applications by offering interactivity and a natural way to input complex content on digital devices,” said Fabien Ric, Product Manager, MyScript. “Leveraging the power of handwriting enables education developers to diversify their exercises and provide more intuitive and engaging experiences for teaching and learning.”

MyScript was the first company in the industry to fully integrate robust input recognition capabilities for text, math, shape, and music into its product offerings. By leveraging these proven capabilities in easy to use toolkits, developers can achieve faster time to market, which can be a significant competitive advantage in the booming education app space. Developers can access the Geometry Widget and related resources by joining the MyScript Developer Program. To learn more, visit http://dev.myscript.com.
