College Instructors Can Integrate Content from Multiple Sources, Including OER, with McGraw-Hill's Leading Adaptive Technology Platforms
New York, /PRNewswire/ - McGraw-Hill recently introduced a new offering, Open Learning Solutions, that provides instructors with the tools and support needed to create one-of-a-kind, engaging digital learning experiences that are affordable and drive student success.
Through Open Learning Solutions, instructors are able to curate and combine content from a variety of sources – such as digital textbooks, personally authored material, open educational resources (OER), national media, YouTube videos and interactive simulations -- with McGraw-Hill's renowned adaptive technology, robust assessment tools and mobile reading capabilities.
McGraw-Hill works in close partnership with instructors to understand their individual course objectives and provide access to the company's advanced tools for authoring content, creating assessments and delivering digital courseware. The company also offers development and implementation support services, such as instructional design or systems integration, where needed.
Open Learning Solutions adds to McGraw-Hill's suite of flexible, affordable offerings in higher education that are designed to increase affordability and help students excel in school, graduate and go on to have productive, fulfilling lives.
"By listening closely to the market, we know that educators don't always want a standard, off-the shelf digital learning solution," said Scott Virkler, Chief Product and Operating Officer for McGraw-Hill's Higher Education division. "Depending on the course, they may need to provide additional context to the content in order to effectively engage students. Our Open Learning Solutions give educators an option to tailor and personalize their course content, integrating their own content, OER and other sources while capitalizing on our trusted technology platforms, tools and customer support."
Over the past year, a number of institutions – including Texas Tech University, the University of Alabama and Northern Arizona University -- have adopted McGraw-Hill's Open Learning Solutions across a variety of courses to digitally enable their content and improve student outcomes.
"I had a vision for my Communications course," said Dr. Amber McCord, an assistant professor at Texas Tech University. "I knew exactly what content I wanted to use for teaching, but I didn't have access to the learning technology and digital delivery that McGraw-Hill brings to the table. Something as simple as enabling my students to do their homework on their phones was impossible on my own. The combination of my course content with the technology from McGraw-Hill allows me to deliver a world-class learning solution to my students."
