Mission Consolidated Independent School District (CISD) Invests In Innovative Germ-Fighting Electrostatic System

Mission CISD introduces the Clorox® Total 360® System patented electrostatic technology to its current cleaning portfolio to further protect students against harmful germs

Mission, TX /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ - Mission Consolidated Independent School District (CISD) is proud to announce our latest investment in our fight to keep students and staff healthy throughout the school year. The purchase of the Clorox® Total 360® System will add an additional layer of surface protection to create an even healthier environment for our students and staff, helping to eliminate harmful bacteria, germs and viruses that can keep students and staff out of school for days.

From absenteeism to school closures, illnesses and infections can have serious impacts on schools and their communities. School districts are often the hardest hit by illnesses and outbreaks, with an estimated 60 million school days lost each year due to cold and flu alone.1 With flu cases peaking between December and March2 and the highly contagious norovirus spiking between November and April3, schools need to be confident that their products and protocols are up to the job.

The illness-causing viruses and bacteria that often cause school-wide outbreaks like fast-spreading norovirus, cold and flu and methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) can survive on surfaces from days to months. Norovirus particles can also persist on environmental surfaces, like desks and cafeteria tables, for days and it only takes as few as 1-10 particles to infect a person4 making daily cleaning and disinfecting surfaces an imperative step in protecting students and staff.

Absenteeism due to illness can severely impact students' academic success. Knowing this, Mission CISD purchased two Clorox® Total 360® Systems to incorporate into their current cleaning and disinfecting regimens to further safeguard against the most common absenteeism-causing culprits in academic and athletic environments.

The Clorox® Total 360® System provides the coverage school districts need by combining patented electrostatic technology with scientifically-tested disinfecting and sanitizing solutions they can trust, enabling Mission CISD to carry out quick and comprehensive cleanings with superior surface coverage. The system works by charging and atomizing the Clorox® disinfecting or sanitizing solution and delivering a powerful flow of the charged particles that are attracted to surfaces with a force stronger than gravity, this allows the solution to easily reach and uniformly coat surfaces, including germ hotspots like the sides, underside, and backside of surfaces, where trigger spray methods might easily miss.

"We have always had very strong cleaning and disinfecting protocols in our schools, this technology will greatly improve our efficiency and provide an additional layer of protection for our students and staff by allowing us to provide coverage in the hardest-to-reach places and in a much timelier manner," said Albert Rodriquez, Maintenance Director. "Our athletic facilities and locker rooms have always presented to be particularly challenging spaces to disinfect thoroughly, but this technology eliminates our challenges by allowing us to reach where we may have not been able to before."

Mission CISD uses the Clorox® Total 360® System to treat a wide range of frequently shared spaces across the 22 campuses, 50+ school buses, and gym locker rooms and field houses to ensure all germ hotspots are cleaned and disinfected properly.

"Our job is to keep our schools healthy places of learning and we are confident that this system will help us effectively and efficiently prevent school-wide outbreaks of those common viruses and infections," added Rodriguez. "We want to keep our students happy, healthy and most importantly, learning, and we believe that the Clorox® Total 360® system will allow us to do just that."
