Model Teaching Offers A New Training Series To Help K-12 Teachers Prepare For Online Learning In The Fall

With the current COVID-19 pandemic situation, many schools and school districts are turning to online learning, leaving many teachers unprepared. This professional development course series for K-12 educators provides essential training on how to implement effective online instruction both full-time as well as using a combined at-home and in-classroom approach.

Houston, TX (PRWEB) - Model Teaching, a leading online teacher professional development and training platform, is pleased to announce the Online Learning Essentials course bundle designed to help teachers implement full-time or part-time online learning in their classrooms this fall. With the uncertainty surrounding COVID-19 and potential delays in start dates for live, in-classroom instruction, this training series provides teachers with the necessary tools and strategies to plan and implement virtual learning for their students.

Online learning and the integration of technology in the classroom has been growing in popularity for quite some time, however, with the current pandemic, the reliance on technology in K-12 education has never been greater. These unprecedented circumstances have left many schools and school districts having to quickly prepare their teachers and staff for the complex task of transitioning their well-established live curriculum into a virtual learning environment- while still maintaining high-quality instruction. While convenient in many ways, online learning possesses unique challenges to teachers who are unfamiliar with how to plan and manage online lessons and have limited experience with the vast array of online tools and technological challenges they may often face in implementation. With this in mind, Model Teaching has developed a professional development course series for K-12 teachers, the Online Learning Essentials Course Bundle, to address many of these challenges. Throughout this training series, teachers will learn not only how to transition their current curriculum into an online format but will learn how to embrace many of the advantages of technology-based learning to offer a transformative learning experience for their students. This 4-course series will train teachers on how to plan and deliver high-quality, differentiated lessons online and how to select appropriate platforms for instruction across all grade levels. Teachers will learn how to build a safe and engaging online community and will learn strategies to communicate virtually with students, colleagues, and parents. They will explore how to shift their current instruction and lesson plans towards a continuum of technology integration to truly transform student interaction and learning. With the possibility that many schools will choose to deliver a blended or combined in-class and at-home approach to instruction for the fall, teachers will also be trained on various in-class blended learning modules, and then take a deep- dive into the Flipped Learning (or Flipped Classroom) instructional model, which allows teachers to combine at-home content instruction with rigorous classroom experiences to reinforce student knowledge. Teachers will also receive dozens of tools, templates, and lesson plans to help them implement essential strategies into their own classrooms. All teachers enrolled in the course series will receive individualized feedback and coaching from Model Teaching expert instructors as they put together an implementation plan for their virtual classrooms or blended classrooms.

“We know how busy and hectic preparing for a new school year can be during normal times. With these unprecedented times of change and uncertainty, we wanted to provide training tools for schools and districts to utilize that are directly relevant to the challenges teachers are facing at this moment in time. Our instructors have spent most of the summer developing a comprehensive training program that we hope will help teachers not only be prepared but ready to excel this year.” -Wendy Lipe, Lead Project Manager.
