Charlotte-Mecklenburg School System Selects Mariner For Data Dashboard Project
Charlotte, NC - Mariner, one of the leader in business intelligence, data warehousing and performance management consulting in the Southeast, announced recently its selection by Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools to develop a District-wide Data Dashboard. The dashboard will enable school administrators, teachers and the public to review performance of the school district against strategic goals and objectives.
"The Data Dashboard will help CMS attain and maintain excellence in all key areas and ensure that the School Board, administrators, teachers, parents and students are all working together to reach higher levels of achievement," explained CMS Chief Accountability Officer, Jonathan Raymond. "In addition, the dashboard will give us the ability to make school operations transparent to the public by tracking current improvement efforts."
"We are honored to help CMS with this project," remarked Philip Morris, one of Mariner's Founding Partners. "As a long-time Charlotte-Mecklenburg resident, parent and business owner, my colleagues and I are thrilled to participate in a project that will provide long term benefits for our community."
The process began in March when Mariner delivered a School Board Performance Framework for the Office of Accountability and CMS School Board. The goal of the framework was to illustrate the board's mission, vision, core beliefs and theory of action. In addition, the framework detailed how school district performance metrics show progress toward these broad goals and vision. With approval of the project at the Board of Education's March 27th meeting, Mariner and CMS will continue working together to put the newly-developed framework into practice. Using the innovative features available in Microsoft's new PerformancePoint Server 2007, Mariner will help CMS monitor their performance, analyze their operations, and facilitate yearly planning
Ultimately, the dashboards will present and regularly update end-of-grade and end-of-course test scores, disparities among subgroups on test scores, and the district's graduation rate. The entire system will provide access to key performance indicators enabling parents, teachers and administrators to understand the performance of students, teachers and schools relative to achievement and efficiency goals established by the School Board and the CMS Strategic Plan 2010.
