K-12 Tragedy Prevention Workshops Announced By GroupLink For SafestSchools And ContentKeeper

Salt Lake City, UT (PRWEB) - GroupLink® for SafestSchools announces an enhanced initiative with ContentKeeper to make K-12 schools safer and to protect students through free 1-on-1 tragedy prevention workshops.

GroupLink and ContentKeeper conducted the first joint webinar for this program of educating school administrators titled “Proactive K-12 Student and Web Safety: Preventing Tragedies” on February 13, 2018, the day before the school shootings at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida on February 14, 2018.

The 35 minute K-12 Tragedy Prevention Workshop schedule (register here http://grouplink.com/k12-safe/) has been accelerated because of recent tragedies and because of the overwhelming response to the pilot workshop on 13 February.

GroupLink’s choice as partner, ContentKeeper, has been a world leader in web filtering and real-time threat detection for over 17 years. It provides behavioral intent alerting and real-time threat detection which decrypts social media posts and web searches to monitor suspicious activity online, and alerts administrators in real time, to mitigate potential bullying, self-harm or malicious plans. Tragedy prevention categories include violent obsessions (i.e., obsessions with bullying or with guns, bombs, etc.), sexual obsessions (i.e., sexual abuse and pedophilia indicators) and self-harm tendencies and thoughts about suicide.

Statistics from sources such as Crisis Trends show in an average 24 hour period in the United States: 1,439 Teens will attempt suicide; 15,006 Teens will use drugs for the first time; 3,506 Teens will run away, and 2 adolescents will be murdered. By implementing the proactive steps in the K-12 Tragedy Prevention workshop, schools and districts can help to greatly decrease these numbers.

GroupLink, a leading provider of support software to academic organizations for over 20 years, offers its GroupLink for SafestSchools, a student behavior tracking, mental health, early intervention & incident resolution solution, to K-12 schools and districts. A GroupLink and ContentKeeper partnership demonstrates a unified focus on empowering school administrators and stakeholders with the ability to identify, intervene and resolve potential threats to school safety and student safety.

“This is a concerning time in education. Many are frantically searching for ways to prevent tragedies which are striking our educational institutions, meant as a safe place for learning. This joint effort from GroupLink and ContentKeeper will make knowledge of proactive behavior tracking all the more accessible for schools to help them protect their students before incidents evolve into tragedies like we are seeing more and more in today’s media”, says Mike Shepherd, Vice President of Operations
