Northridge Local School District Gets A ModSpace Makeover

BERWYN, Pa.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Teachers and students at Northridge Local School District in Johnstown, OH, started off with a clean slate in the 2008-2009 school year after two elementary schools were closed in 2008, torn down, rebuilt, and reorganized. Kindergartners through third-graders moved into the district's primary building at Alexandria Elementary, while fourth and fifth graders were moved into a new, 17,000 sq. ft. school building provided by ModSpace, the nation's leading provider of modular building, storage, and services for temporary or permanent space needs.

Constructed by ModSpace's Columbus team, the building is comprised of 22 module units that join to form a fully functional school building. The building features classrooms, a large multi-purpose room to serve as a lunch room and meeting space, restrooms for students and faculty, large corridors that accommodate lockers and traffic, and office space for the District offices of the Superintendent and Treasurer.

John Shepard, Superintendent of Northridge, says, "ModSpace more than met our expectations, as well as those of parents and the rest of the Northridge community. Their ability to quickly turn around this modular building project, before students returned to school, allowed us to continue meeting the needs of our district." Shepard adds, "This is the type of safe, clean learning environment that parents expect their children to enjoy every day of the year."

Shamim Melvin, Fleet Solutions Territory Manager for ModSpace, says, "When we were awarded the Northridge project, we hit the ground running. The entire team understood how urgently this school needed to be up and running by the start of the school year. There were only 45 days between the start of construction, and the day it was ready for students."

Students are now attending class in the new ModSpace facility and they are happy to take pride in their new school.
